Job Summary The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Business Consultant is a faculty position reporting to the Area Director. The role involves providing counseling and delivering programs to individuals, businesses, and organizations within the geographic area. The position requires broad business knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects, including travel across multiple counties.

Responsibilities

Provide Individual Business Support and Consultation:

Offer personalized support to entrepreneurs and business leaders on business planning, market feasibility, financial analysis, and operational strategies, ensuring impactful results.

Develop and Deliver Business Training Programs:

Design and implement seminars and training initiatives tailored to the local business community, overseeing curriculum development, marketing, and execution to meet annual goals.

Advocate for Economic Development and Collaboration:

Engage with the local business community and partner organizations to promote economic growth through presentations, committee participation, and public relations activities.

Support Organizational Improvement:

Document client work according to SBA standards, support strategic initiatives, serve on committees, and develop work plans aligned with organizational goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.

At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a small business environment.

Preferred Qualifications Education:

Master’s degree in Business or related field (preferred). Candidates with a Master’s degree are eligible for faculty rank of Public Service Assistant.

Bachelor’s degree holders may be eligible for Public Service Professional (UGA) appointment, which is provisional and limited to 6 years without an advanced degree.

Experience:

Knowledge of University and SBDC programs and management background preferred.

Teaching experience in developing and delivering courses is advantageous.

Salary $75,000 - $80,000 annually
