Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced z/OS systems programmer. The candidate will contribute to z/OS mainframe tasks and projects while utilizing and expanding their technical expertise. The role requires maintaining and upgrading the z/OS Operating System, resolving system issues, and supporting users and team members.
This position offers the opportunity to work with a team of experts managing and supporting IBM z/OS mainframe systems, making significant contributions to the company's technical operations.
Essential Details:
Hybrid role with occasional on-site work in Boulder, Colorado. Free parking is available. Remote work is possible for highly qualified candidates within the U.S. Part-time preferred (24 hours/week), but full-time may be considered. No extensive physical activities or driving required. Casual business attire. No COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Interviews conducted via Teams. Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and upgrade z/OS Operating System and associated software. Solve complex system issues and debug mainframe software problems. Educate and assist users and team members. Provide technical guidance and ensure thorough documentation. Support development professionals across all stages, from requirements to customer support. Required Skills:
Proven experience with z/OS mainframe system software programming. Expertise in hardware components like FICON/ESCON, DASD, encryption, and virtual tape libraries. Knowledge of catalog management, ISPF/SDSF, RACF, JES, and z/FS filesystems. Proficiency in SYSPLEX management and storage/tape management. Strong problem-solving skills for debugging and resolving mainframe issues. bility to work independently and collaboratively. vailability for some weekend/off-shift coverage. Preferred Skills:
VTAM, TCP/IP, and virtual interfaces. System operator experience and z/VM system expertise. Experience with zCX, Linux on z/OS, and providing hosting support. RACF security and DFSMS administration. Knowledge of DS8000, FlashCopy, and iSeries (a plus). Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent z/OS experience (5-7 years minimum).
