ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW Yellowstone Teton Territory (YTT) is the official destination marketing organization for Eastern Idaho, representing Bonneville, Madison, Teton, Jefferson, Clark, and Fremont counties. Our mission is to promote this spectacular region as a premier destination for tourism, and to increase overnight stays.
POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Event and Sports Sales professional. This is a
12-month contract
position with the potential for annual renewals up to 4 additional years. We hope to find a candidate who will thrive in the role and continue with us long-term.
This position will be responsible for attracting and securing new events, sporting events, business conferences, and conventions to the Yellowstone Teton Territory region. The successful candidate will serve as the primary liaison for event organizers, tournament directors, and corporate meeting planners, working to showcase our region's exceptional venues, accommodations, and natural attractions.
This position will report directly to YTT’s marketing director, but will work with several other invested partners throughout the region, including but not limited to the City of Idaho Falls, The Idaho Falls Auditorium District, and other partners working toward similar goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Event Development & Sales Identify, pursue, and secure new sporting events, tournaments, conferences, and conventions for the six-county region Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline of potential events and meetings Conduct site visits and familiarization tours for event organizers and decision makers Prepare compelling proposals and presentations showcasing regional capabilities Negotiate contracts and terms with event organizers Relationship Management Build and maintain relationships with national and regional sports organizations, event producers, and meeting planners Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to generate leads Collaborate with local venues, hotels, and service providers to ensure seamless event execution Serve as primary point of contact for event organizers throughout the planning and execution process Market Research & Strategy Research and identify target markets and event opportunities Analyze competitor destinations and develop competitive positioning strategies Track industry trends and emerging opportunities in the events and sports tourism sectors Help determine Marketing Strategy and budget for the Event Space. Maintain comprehensive database of contacts, leads, and event calendar in the Simpleview CRM Partnership & Collaboration Work closely with local convention and visitors bureaus, chambers of commerce, and economic development organizations Coordinate with venue operators, hotels, restaurants, and activity providers Collaborate with transportation providers and local government entities as needed Support existing events to ensure successful execution and potential growth COMPENSATION PACKAGE Base Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 annually Performance Bonuses: Annual bonuses based on: Number of events successfully booked Total room nights generated Other economic impact metrics *Final compensation structure to be negotiated and determined upon final contract.
Professional Development: Support for industry conference attendance and continuing education. Marketing Support: Support for marketing in the Event Space. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Hospitality, Sports Management, or related field preferred Minimum 3-5 years of experience in event sales, sports marketing, convention sales, or destination marketing Knowledge of outdoor recreation trends and adventure sports market Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and targets Skills & Competencies Established network of contacts in the event, sports, and meetings industry preferred Strong presentation and proposal writing skills Excellent verbal and written communication abilities Proficiency in CRM systems, Simpleview preferred Knowledge of event logistics and planning requirements Personal Attributes Self-motivated with strong entrepreneurial spirit Excellent relationship-building and networking capabilities Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills While this is a remote position, candidate should reside in Eastern Idaho, and/or the ability to travel frequently within the Eastern Idaho region, and or tradeshows in other areas as needed. Professional demeanor and appearance for client-facing activities
