Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively referred and selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school.
  • Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
  • Residency training: Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Residency programs approved by ACGME, AOA, or equivalent international programs with verified practice in the U.S.
  • Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on a limited basis.
  • PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis.
  • PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Preferred experience: Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Physical requirements: pre-employment physical, ability to lift 15-44 pounds, push, reach above shoulder, use fingers and hands, walk and stand for extended periods, and other physical demands as specified.

  • The Harry S. Truman VA Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, board-certified/board-eligible Primary Care Physician to join our team at the Marshfield Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).
