Persons with the title of professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, assistant professor-clinical and instructor-clinical. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty department and, as appropriate, regional campus; Clinical faculty are teacher/practitioners and will be engaged primarily in teaching activities. These faculty normally have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field or equivalent experience.

Position Overview
The Ohio State University Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure or clinical-track faculty position in Cardiology. The successful candidate will join an internationally recognized clinical, teaching, and research program that includes two faculty cardiologists, three cardiology residents, two experienced technicians , and a Cardiology-dedicated liaison who support the C ardiology clinic and the cardiac catheterization suite. The program is centered in a comprehensive teaching hospital and referral center with an annual caseload of over 39,000 . Cardiology workspaces include a brand-new Cardiology Clinic Teaching space with 2 adjacent Echo Labs , a n upcoming state-of-the-art interventional medicine suite , a Clinical Cardiology Research Laboratory , and an adjacent student learning center (LCR).
Faculty members share clinical responsibilities. Although the majority of the clinical practice involves dogs and cats, the Cardiology service also evaluates heart and vascular diseases in horses, alpacas, and food animals in collaboration with colleagues in the Equine and Large-Animal hospitals. Extensive collaboration among faculty and residents in all clinical specialties results in a vibrant clinical arena that offers truly comprehensive care to veterinary patients with a stimulating practice environment.
Extensive resources are available to support both clinical and research activities in Cardiology. These include: two high-end digital echocardiographic systems (two Vivid E95 with XD Clear technology , raw data storage, and 4D imaging and transesophageal echocardiography) and a Vivid-q system (for bed-side echo); four integrated GE e chocardiographic workstations ( EchoPacs ) with advanced digital applications; C-arm fluoroscopy (GE OEC9900) for cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures; digital and analog hemodynamic monitoring equipment; equipment for cardiac pacing ( Medronic and Dextronic perm a n e nt pacing systems, temporary pacing systems, a Lifepack 1 5 for transcutaneous pacing , electrical defibrillation, and hemodynamic recordings , and equipment for transvenous cardioversion in horses); full surface and Holter-Event ECG equipment , and a fully digital hospital information system ( ezyVet ) with medical record search capabilities . Other relevant hospital resources include digital radiography; on-site ultrafast 128 slice spiral CT and 3T-MRI; PET-CT; nuclear medicine; and video bronchoscopy. Cardiology works closely with our in-house soft-tissue surgeons as well as pediatric interventional cardiologist from Nationwide Childrens Hospital to perform hybrid and cutting-edge procedures. There are pathology and clinical pathology services available on-site. The OSU Library System includes extensive digital resources as well as Veterinary College and Health Sciences Libraries.
Clinical and classroom teaching are a priority of the Cardiology Service with each team member actively involved in both professional and post-graduate education. Faculty teaching responsibilities include in-person and remote didactic teaching , labs, and clinical teaching of C ardiology to professional students, interns, and residents. Faculty members are expected to participate in professional outreach, committee service, and curriculum development.
Individualized clinical percentage is available depending on candidates desires with regards to clinics and research as well as service needs, allowing sufficient off-clinic time for collaborative research, grant writing, publication, faculty development, and continuing education. There is a mentoring program in place for new faculty members to support their academic development as teachers and clinical scientists .
Performance Objectives
TEACHING DUTIES
Clinical, didactic, and laboratory teaching of professional students, residents and interns in the Cardiology Service, in conjunction with the diagnosis and treatment of patients presented to the OSU Veterinary Medical Center.
CLINICAL SERVICE AND OUTREACH DUTIES
All aspects of patient care associated with a busy cardiology practice , including : patient management, client care, communication with referring DVMs, consulting with colleagues, medical record keeping on your cases, professional development, and participation in public relations activities.
RESEARCH AND SCHOLARLY DUTIES
Use of scheduled off-clinic time for preparing teaching materials, conducting clinical research, writing for publication, and other scholarly activities.
Tenure track faculty are expected to meet the criteria established in the colleges Research Metrics document for their level of research appointment.
Although extramurally funded research is not required for clinical track faculty, participation in collabo - rative research projects, resident and graduate student projects is strongly encouraged.

Education and Experience Requirements
Required :
DVM or equivalent degree
Specialty board certification by ACVIM or ECVIM -CA in C ardiology or board eligibility
Desired :
Teaching experience: this can include teaching of veterinary students, interns, and/or residents
Clinical experience: this can include academic or private practice experience
An advanced degree or equivalent research experience is desirable, but not required .
