Regulatory Investigations, Strategy, and Enforcement (RISE)
group's litigation Paralegal oversees budgeting, compliance, and administrative coordination for litigation matters. The role involves developing financial and project management processes using tools like Aderant, HighQ, Tableau, and PowerBI, providing high-level support through coordination, legal research, document management, and trial preparation. This position includes an annual billing component. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a liaison between the legal team and client legal operations, ensuring timely budget submission and approval, and communicate and implement budget changes. Ensure financial and administrative concerns are clearly communicated. Manage budget and project planning for complex multijurisdictional cases involving multiple state and federal agencies. Oversee budgeting reports to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies. Assist with implementing solutions for budgeting and matter tracking using tools such as Aderant, HighQ, Tableau, and PowerBI. Enhance time entry, reporting, and billing processes to ensure compliance with guidelines and requirements. Develop and document processes for quick issue resolution and replication across legal teams. Lead project status meetings. Analyze and summarize legal sources, such as case law, statutes, constitutions, legal journal articles, treatises, U.S. codes, and other law-related information relevant to the practice area. Oversee case task lists, draft and review legal documents, conduct research, and collaborate with the Docketing team to ensure accuracy of litigation deadlines. Manage large-scale document collection and production by implementing systems for efficient document organization and retrieval. Assist with depositions by preparing exhibits, managing transcripts, and coordinating with witnesses and attorneys. Assist in trial preparation and execution. Organize trial binders, manage evidence, coordinate logistics, and provide in-court support. Utilize litigation databases to conduct searches, load transcripts, and code documents. Retrieve public records from online sources or government institutions. Cite check large briefs according to the Bluebook under tight deadlines. Utilize electronic court systems, such as the U.S. District Courts and State/Circuit Courts, to ensure compliance with local rules and procedures. Organize and index documents, conduct research, and run reports in PACER and other online court platforms. Ensure accuracy and timely completion of documents for court filings. Collaborate with team members and vendors to support discovery, trial, and arbitration processes, and facilitate delivery of legal services. Manage case dockets to ensure deadlines are met. Periodic overtime and work travel may be needed. Maintain confidential information related to clients and matters. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong proofreading and organizational abilities. Ability to prioritize tasks and execute with attention to detail, even under pressure. Professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and discretion in handling sensitive matters. Initiative, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and resource utilization. Understanding of business processes and ability to implement improvements. Motivated self-starter in a high-performance, fast-paced environment with limited supervision. Ability to provide quality client service to internal and external clients. Willingness to learn and utilize new technology. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (lookups, pivot tables). Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience demonstrating ability to perform essential duties. Minimum of 10 years of progressive litigation experience. Experience with database systems like iManage.
