JOB SUMMARY Position Title: Assistant Director of WIC Program: WIC/Health and Nutrition Classification: Exempt/Full-Time The Assistant Director of WIC will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, managing staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality client nutrition and breastfeeding services to eligible participants. This role is critical to maintaining program effectiveness, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, and supporting the overall success and continuous improvement of the WIC program.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Organizational Leadership Provides leadership that promotes excellence in nutrition, breastfeeding, and customer service; fosters a positive and inclusive team culture; and plays a key role in advancing the strategic goals and vision of the leadership team Participates in leadership workgroups at both the organizational and statewide levels, helping to shape strategic initiatives and drive program improvements Ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations, policies, and data reporting requirements Monitors program performance metrics and help implement quality improvement strategies Staff Oversight and Development Provides coaching, mentorship, and performance evaluations for direct reports Oversees the recruitment and hiring process for a diverse team of nutritionists, nutrition assistants, customer service specialists, site leads, and breastfeeding peer counselors Leads onboarding and initial training for new team members and monitors overall team performance to identify and address ongoing training needs Plans and delivers in-service training on the nutrition assessment process and related topics, including nutrition, breastfeeding, customer service, food insecurity, poverty, and promising community action approaches Operations Management Oversee the daily operations of clinics across the agency, ensuring achievement of enrollment and participation targets Manages time and attendance records and ensures a fair, consistent process for handling time-off requests Conducts regular site visits, case reviews, and supervisory meetings to monitor quality and provide leadership guidance Ensures that all sites implement program policies, protocols, and client services consistently and effectively Provides higher-level support for client concerns that have been escalated beyond the immediate supervisor Nutrition Assessment, Counseling, and Care Develops and implements annual nutrition education goals and objectives based on data analysis to address service gaps and ensure compliance with the nutrition assessment process Evaluates nutrition education resources and maintains an adequate supply of culturally appropriate and evidence-based materials Leads ongoing clinic monitoring, staff observation, and coaching to maintain compliance to nutrition standards Breastfeeding Promotion and Support Develops and implements annual breastfeeding goals and objectives informed by breastfeeding data and participant trends Monitors and reports on initiation and duration rates to guide program improvements Oversee the breastfeeding peer counseling program, providing direct supervision and utilizing performance metrics to guide support Evaluates breastfeeding education resources and ensures adequate inventory of materials and breast pumps to support participant needs Leads ongoing clinic monitoring, staff observation, and coaching to maintain compliance to breastfeeding standards *Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or home economics (with emphasis in

nutrition/dietetics)

required Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or equivalent required within one year of hire Registered Dietitian with PA licensure preferred Minimum of two years WIC experience required Two years supervisory experience strongly preferred
