Job Description Salary: $49,322.00 - $64,701.00 NOTICE OF JOB POSTING
POSITION TITLE: ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN BRIDGEWATER PUBLIC LIBRARY BLSA GRADE 9 FULL-TIME (35 HOURS PER WEEK) PAY RANGE: $49,322.00 TO $64,701.00 PER YEAR
POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the general supervision of the Library Director or their designee, the Assistant Librarian facilitates the operation of library services in the Circulation Department and as needed in one or more of the following areas: Childrens Room, Reference Desk.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Checking materials in and out to patrons Registering new patrons Answering questions from the public in-person and on the phone Assisting patrons with library resources and technology and troubleshooting patron computers Helps to maintain the circulating collection through shelving, shelf reading, mending, discarding and cleaning Set up displays and exhibits Processes and catalogs library materials Shifts at the childrens circulation desk may include assisting the Childrens Librarian in preparing for and running childrens programming and related tasks Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the public and other library staff Exhibit attention to detail, be able to solve problems, and work independently Computer skills are a necessity
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Bachelors degree in a relevant field of study 1-3 years related work or experience
QUALIFICIATIONS: Familiarity with SirsiDynix WorkFlows software and library catalog is a plus Knowledge of popular adults and childrens literature and media preferred
PHYISCAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to push book carts and bins loaded with library materials Reach and retrieve books at high and low shelf heights To stand/sit for prolonged periods of time Be able to assist with lifting up to 30 pounds
