Bus Monitor Regular Route

The Bus Monitor is responsible to the driver for duties including loading and unloading students, monitoring student safety, and managing student behavior aboard the bus. Promote a positive, caring climate that ensures students follow the student handbook and code of conduct. Ensure all students are safe and following safety rules. Standing or walking on the bus while it is moving is prohibited. Follow emergency procedures, including evacuation and administering first aid if necessary. Assist the driver with daily cleaning, window closing, pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and bus maintenance. Report damages and repairs daily. Help prepare and collate reports, and maintain an updated route schedule. Maintain discipline on the bus, considering students' special needs and documenting incidents thoroughly. Collaborate with the driver and report to the Transportation Director if needed. Complete Discipline Conduct Forms when necessary. Assign seats to students, monitor for problems, and keep problematic students separated. Secure students in child restraint seats as needed. Ensure students take their belongings when departing. Sit in a manner that allows observation of all students, and learn their individual needs. Sitting at the front of the bus is not appropriate. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Attend safety meetings and in-service workshops; obtain notes if unable to attend. Refrain from using cellular devices while students are on the bus. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Seniority level
