Job Summary
Involves managing the planning and execution of Support Services and Facilities initiatives, including procurement strategies, logistics optimization, inventory management, and the implementation of new systems or processes to support clinical operations. Responsibilities include collecting, developing, and analyzing operational data to determine project requirements and preparing information regarding product specifications, sourcing options, equipment, cost estimates, and implementation timelines.
The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of the design and construction of highly complex, significant projects and/or highly specialized and critical components within these projects. Projects are highly complex, critical, and significant in scope and nature, having both the biggest budget and longest timeline. The PM works under little to no direct supervision but will escalate highly sensitive issues or issues outside their scope to their manager as well as can serve as a lead to lower-level project managers. The Project Manager exercises independent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining satisfactory results and may oversee, manage, supervise, or provide guidance to other Project Managers and/or Analysts.
The Sr. Project Manager (Sr. PM) is accountable for all aspects of Support Services and Facilities project management, including monitoring contract compliance and coordinating services in support of clinical & non-clinical departments to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, with high quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment to organizational goals. This includes end-to-end management of initiatives from strategic planning and cost estimation through execution and post-implementation evaluation, including risk mitigation, compliance with regulatory requirements, and vendor oversight.
The Sr. PM partners with Support Services and Facilities Leadership, Category Managers, and Operations leaders to organize, plan, and manage initiatives such as sourcing transformations, inventory optimization, technology deployments (e.g., ERP, MMIS), and logistics enhancements across multiple facilities. Responsibilities include vendor selection and management, negotiation of contracts and service levels, and coordination of internal stakeholders including clinical, IT, finance, and operations teams.
The Sr. PM is responsible for monitoring project progress and outcomes, resolving highly complex challenges, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals. This individual communicates project status and impacts to stakeholders and executive leadership, serving as a key point of contact for high-visibility Support Services and Facilities initiatives. Projects may include clinical product conversions, centralized distribution models, or large-scale procurement redesigns.
This role requires the highest level of critical thinking, problem-solving, and change leadership. Projects often impact clinical care environments, requiring collaboration across departments and a deep understanding of healthcare operations. The Sr. PM will also mentor and coach junior team members in supply chain project management best practices, process improvement methodologies, and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
The Sr. Project Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy, using sound judgment to choose strategies and tactics for achieving outcomes. While they are expected to escalate only the most sensitive or high-risk issues to leadership, they may also serve as a lead or advisor to other project managers and analysts, guiding complex, mission-critical Support Services and Facilities transformation efforts.
