Job Title: Medical Informatics Project Manager

Location: Bethesda, MD (On-site)

Employment Type: Full-Time

About United Theranostics:

United Theranostics is a fast-growing, innovation-driven national private practice at the forefront of radiopharmaceutical therapy and diagnostics. We are redefining the future of precision healthcare by integrating cutting-edge informatics, clinical excellence, and operational efficiency to transform patient outcomes. If you’re driven to lead high-impact projects at the intersection of healthcare and technology, we invite you to join our team.

Position Overview:

The Medical Informatics Project Manager is a strategic and hands-on leadership role, responsible for driving the planning, coordination, and execution of key initiatives in radiology and healthcare IT. You will manage multiple complex cross-functional projects involving PACS, RIS, EMRs, AI tools, image viewers, and data standards integration (DICOM, HL7, FHIR). This is a highly visible, collaborative role working across clinical operations, IT, radiology, and vendor teams. This is not a technical engineering role, but rather a high-impact project management position where communication, structure, foresight, and disciplined execution are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of informatics projects in imaging and clinical systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to prioritize and scope initiatives; translate vision into actionable roadmaps.
  • Develop, execute, and track detailed project plans using tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Monday, or equivalent platforms.
  • Facilitate seamless implementation and integration of systems such as PACS, RIS, LIS, EMR, AI tools, and image viewers .
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards and support initiatives around DICOM, HL7, and FHIR interoperability.
  • Lead stakeholder meetings, conduct risk assessments, resolve issues, and drive accountability across workstreams.
  • Prepare and present clear project documentation, progress updates, and executive-level briefings.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements and automation opportunities through analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide post-project evaluation, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement planning.
  • Address regulatory and compliance-sensitive implementation, including HIPAA, PHI handling, and system security.
  • Translate vendor-speak (DICOM tags, HL7 ADT, FHIR bundles, REST APIs) into clear action plans for clinicians, executives, and engineers.
  • Fluent in the alphabet soup—DICOM, HL7 v2/v3, FHIR R4, REST/GraphQL, OAuth, VPN/IPsec —but you’re a communicator, not a coder .

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7–10 years of proven project management experience in medical informatics, radiology IT, or healthcare technology, with a track record of successfully leading 30+ concurrent cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, agile environment—consistently delivering on time and within budget.
  • Deep familiarity with systems such as PACS, RIS, EMR, LIS , voice dictation tools, and image viewers.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards: DICOM, HL7, FHIR .
  • High-level understanding of networking concepts, including VPNs, proxies, and secure connectivity principles.
  • Experience using modern project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Monday, Asana).
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP, PMI-ACP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML applications in diagnostic imaging.
  • Experience implementing EMRs and imaging platforms in a clinical or enterprise setting.

What We Offer:

  • A rare opportunity to drive transformative projects in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Direct impact on improving patient outcomes through smarter healthcare delivery.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • A collaborative, mission-driven culture that values innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.

Compensation Range:

$100,000 – $130,000

Benefits Include:

  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Paid Time Off
  • Opportunities for Professional Development
  • Access to the latest healthcare IT technologies

A Final Note:

This role is not for technologists or developers —but it is for project managers who understand them, speak their language, and can drive results across complex IT initiatives.
