Job Description
Position Title : Data Architect
Client : Capital One
Address : Richmond, VA
Schedule: Hybrid (Tuesday-Thursday on Site)
Duration : 6-Month Contract
Pay Range : ~$75 / hr.
Project Description : Hiring a hands-on Data Architect to lead a large-scale data migration and integration initiative for a major platform modernization project. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution — you'll define architecture, guide tooling decisions, and work closely with engineering and analyst teams to bring scalable solutions to life.
Responsibilities
- Design architecture strategies for migrating data from legacy systems into modern, cloud-native platforms
- Select appropriate tools and frameworks for migration and integration pipelines (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, AWS)
- Create high-level solution architecture and data mapping documentation
- Collaborate with analysts and data engineers to align design with business requirements
- Work closely with two existing data architects, contributing to architectural reviews and strategic planning
- Support limited data modelling tasks in collaboration with analysts who lead mapping activities
- Ensure alignment of technical execution with broader business goals
Must Have
- Proficiency in SQL
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and/or Snowflake
- Strong working knowledge of AWS services (EMR, Glue, Lambda)
- Proven experience in architecting data migration and integration solutions
- Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
Nice To Have
- Experience with Python
- Exposure to data modeling concepts (dimensional, relational)
- Familiarity with tools like dbt or Airflow
