A well-established New Jersey based property management company is seeking a hands-on VP of Property Management who can lead by example and who possesses strong operational skills. The ideal candidate will enjoy spending time in the field at multifamily properties mostly located in NJ, provide guidance and mentor regional managers that will report to this position, and stay abreast of market conditions and changes in the industry.
The VP of Property Management must have the knowledge and financial acumen to interpret and weigh in on corporate reports, financial statements, budgets, variance reports, delinquencies, vacancy and leasing reports, capital projects, property expenditures, acquisitions, etc., and review proposed capital improvements and large expense items.
The VP of Property Management visits the assets routinely, considers sources of additional revenue, is familiar with the market and competition, and meets with the staff to provide motivation and constructive feedback as needed that will enable them to meet and/or exceed company goals. The position also includes the training and succession planning of qualified staff and ongoing communication with all regional managers. As a team player, the VP of Property Management will work across corporate departments to access and provide information and will report directly to ownership.
Must be proficient using MS Office and property management software (Yardi is a plus) and possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
