About the role:

SoftBank Group International (“SBGI”) is seeking an enthusiastic, driven, and experienced Vice President to join the Finance team in the New York, Miami or Menlo Park office. The incumbent will provide accounting and finance expertise within a dynamic private/growth equity/fund structure, working with visionary senior management team on key issues, special projects, and global growth. The VP has significant knowledge and experience in applying and interpreting technical accounting, reporting and disclosure requirements, as well as a good understanding of economics and business matters.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of investment and derivative investment accounting activity, reconciling data, and performing analytical activities to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Assist in analysis and review of complex accounting transactions
  • Prepare the global consolidated financial statements, manage financial reporting data submission and validation process, and present applicable portions of the monthly results to the accounting organization
  • Possess a solid degree of technical knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting and IFRS
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a strong internal control environment within the Investment Accounting function and participate in internal control design and documentation
  • Support the year-end financial statement audit, as well as any statutory audits, and address additional follow-up questions/inquiries via internal or external auditors as they arise
  • Leads or participates in companywide initiatives and cross functional projects that directly impact or relate to accounting and finance areas. Examples include implementation of new accounting policies, new acquisition integration and other significant business transactions, process improvement and new information systems
  • Provide corporate accounting guidance by conducting technical accounting research on various topics (e.g. share based compensation)
  • Performing ad-hoc activities as requested by the management team
  • Monitor the team’s performance to ensure direct report(s) meet individual tasks, deadlines and perform to established standards
  • As needed, take timely actions to coach, develop and train the team to fulfill their daily responsibilities and needed competencies
  • Establish goals for the team and individual employee, provide direction and evaluate employees to ensure efficient staff operations, growth and development
  • Effectively balance workloads, assignments and appropriately delegates responsibilities to staff
  • Managed team’s daily activities to ensure effective communication, collaboration, time management and appropriate accounting treatment
  • Contribute to related special projects and other duties as needed
  • Some travel may be required

To be successful in this role:

  • You have 10+ years of global Corporate Accounting or equivalent business experience
  • You have a CPA, with experience from Big 4 and/or high-tech company or private equity
  • You have thorough knowledge of IFRS, and working knowledge of US GAAP is desirable
  • You have ideally 3-5 Years of management experience
  • You have functional working knowledge of NetSuite
  • You have advanced proficiency in Google and MS Office applications, particularly Excel to include formulas, data manipulation, pivot tables and V-look up functions
  • You have excellent time and project management skills with the ability to build strong cross functional relationships and work collaboratively
  • You have experience with GAAP, ERP and Advance Planning
  • You are a clear communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You are detail-oriented self-starter, who thrives in a close-knit, fast-paced environment
