We operate at the intersection of technology, finance, and regulation—and we’re looking for a seasoned legal advisor to help us navigate that complexity.
Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Part-Time General Counsel to provide legal oversight and strategic counsel across all areas of the business. You’ll work directly with the executive team to manage legal risk, support regulatory compliance (particularly with CFTC, NFA, and any applicable broker-dealer or FCM rules), handle contracts and vendor agreements, and advise on corporate governance and potential international expansion.
Key Responsibilities- Advise on compliance with U.S. regulations (e.g., CFTC, NFA) relevant to proprietary trading and introducing broker operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and licensing arrangements.
- Provide legal guidance on launching new products, marketing practices, and user terms of service.
- Support corporate governance, including board resolutions, ownership structure, and entity formation.
- Assist with employment law issues and international contractor agreements as needed.
- Liaise with external counsel and regulators, as appropriate.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks while aligning with business growth objectives.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the U.S.
- 6+ years of legal experience, ideally including in-house counsel roles.
- Deep understanding of the financial services industry, especially futures, trading platforms, or fintech.
- Familiarity with NFA/CFTC regulatory frameworks, FCM/IB structures, or CTA rules is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and judgment.
- Comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial environment.
- Hourly or retainer-based compensation structure, negotiable based on experience.
- Estimated 10–20 hours per month to start, with flexibility based on project needs.
- Shape the legal foundation of a high-growth trading platform.
