Description

As a Sr. Propulsion Design Engineer at Impulse Space, you will own all aspects of propulsion component design from concept to product realization. You will work closely with a fast-paced, agile team dedicated to developing high-performance spacecraft from a clean sheet design.

Responsibilities

  • Design propulsion system valves and actuators
  • Own all aspects of component design from concept to product realization
  • Layout complex and highly integrated fluid and mechanical systems
  • Generate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings
  • Perform fluid, thermal, and structural analysis as required
  • Collaborate with the team and external sources to procure materials, fabricate parts, and complete assemblies
  • Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience with flight propulsion components, including cryogenic, high-pressure, and high-performance applications
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience working with fluid, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in CAD software with the ability to learn new tools
  • Experience in requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, and testing of hardware

Skills and Experience

  • Experience designing and delivering high-reliability, high-performance hardware
  • Experience with in-space propulsion components
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX
  • Strong project management skills and effective communication across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in startup or agile development environments

Additional Requirements

  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel as needed

Additional Information

Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and market data. Individual pay is based on skills, education, experience, and capabilities. Full-time employees may be eligible for long-term incentives such as stock options, and benefits including medical, vision, dental coverage, and a 401(k) plan.
