Job Summary

We are looking for an exceptional Accounting Director with a strong background in biotech industry accounting practices, CPA certification, and proven leadership experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the accounting department, including supervising staff, setting goals, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex accounting issues specific to the biotech industry, such as revenue recognition for milestone payments, accounting for collaborative arrangements, and valuation of intangible assets.
  • Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to develop accurate financial projections and monitor performance against targets.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital, ensuring optimal utilization of financial resources and maintaining strong relationships with banking partners.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis initiatives, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making by senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Stay current with changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and industry regulations, ensuring the company's compliance and implementing necessary changes to accounting practices.
  • Collaborate with the research and development team to develop and implement cost accounting systems for tracking and analyzing R&D expenses.
  • Oversee the accounting aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, including due diligence, valuation, and integration of financial systems.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, auditors, regulators, and financial institutions.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial systems and technologies to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver financial presentations to the executive team, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop accounting team members, promoting professional growth and succession planning within the department.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with a deep understanding of industry-specific accounting practices and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS
