Summary

Due to continued company growth, the Financial Controller position is a newly created opportunity within a dynamic medical device organization based in Baltimore, MD. This hybrid accounting and financial leadership role is an unique opportunity to join a highly successful and innovative company and leadership team with a defined career track to the CFO level. The Financial Controller position will offer a base salary in the $160,000 to $180,000 range, an annual bonus, CFO career track, future equity earning program, full benefits, as well as a hybrid flexible work schedule. Successful candidates will have 8 or more years of professional experience with a mixture of public accounting, corporate accounting, and corporate FP&A experience with ideally exposure to related business sectors such as medical device, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or healthcare. Financial Controller – Job Description

  • Provide direct development and daily leadership for a team responsible for oversight and management of the accounting operations, financial reporting, and FP&A functions reporting to the Chief Officers of the Company.
  • Preparation of financial statements and business reports, financial forecasts and ad hoc analysis to understand the state of business.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Provide hands on guidance across financial analysis, financial planning, performance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and financial strategy.
  • Participate in the preparation of the company’s annual operating plan and prepare budget to actual reporting to management and the Board.
  • Responsible for the preparation of accounting policy memorandum and analysis to support the GAAP accounting utilized in the financial statements
  • Ability to communicate the company’s financial position to management and the Board of Directors through monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Responsible for evaluation and implementation of financial reporting tools that will aid in the management of the business.
  • Management of the company’s audit and/or review process with the outside auditors, as well as management of the tax preparation process with outside Tax Accountants.
  • Support the financing process and business unit growth strategy.
  • Utilize strong communication, technology, analytical and management skills in developing division staff and processes.
  • 8+ years of relevant business experience across both corporate accounting and finance
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
  • CPA, CMA, or CGMA certification preferred
  • Previous experience in public accounting highly valued
  • Working understanding of GAAP
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, and MS Office, Sales Force preferred
  • Strong leadership skills and organizational skills with ability to progress to CFO level responsibilities in future.
  • Ability to work onsite in Baltimore, MD office 2-3 days a week
