Guardant Health is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Alliance Management to lead our Biopharma Alliance Management team. This individual will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. The Director will serve as a strategic problem solver for key client relationships and lead the development and execution of customer engagement strategies.

The Director will play a critical leadership role in strengthening our partnerships with global biopharmaceutical companies, ensuring operational excellence and the delivery of mutual goals across strategic BioPharma accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Alliance Management BioPharma partnerships team.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and growth-oriented team culture.
  • Develop and implement talent development plans to ensure team growth and individual career progression.
  • Establish best practices, workflows, and KPIs for alliance management across the organization.
  • Strategic Problem Solving
    • Proactively identify partnership challenges and develop detailed action plans.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues, aligning internal and external stakeholders.
    • Develop frameworks for issue triage and resolution with clear accountability, timelines, and success metrics.
    • Translate customer needs into actionable strategies aligned with Guardant’s operational capabilities and business goals.
    • Facilitate internal reviews to track progress, escalate issues, and improve service delivery.
  • Key Account Management
    • Develop and oversee strategic engagement plans for high-value biopharma partnerships.
    • Align internal teams and customer stakeholders on shared objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Ensure successful execution of partnership goals, including milestones, reporting, and strategic reviews.
    • Cultivate senior-level relationships with external partners to deepen collaboration and unlock future opportunities.
  • Qualifications
    • Typically requires a university degree and 15+ years of related experience; or 12+ years with a Master’s degree; or 8+ years with a PhD; or 5+ years with a PharmD/MD.
    • 10+ years in biopharma alliance management, client success, or related roles.
    • 3+ years of team leadership experience, preferably in life sciences or diagnostics.
    • Deep understanding of oncology pharma and diagnostic landscape.
    • Proven success managing complex, high-value partnerships.
    • Exceptional problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
    • Strong strategic thinking, project management, and interpersonal skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Hybrid Work Model : Employees within 50 miles of a Guardant facility are required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. This schedule promotes collaboration and focused work, supporting work-life balance.
  • The US base salary range is $170,510 to $234,430, excluding benefits, bonuses, or equity. For Palo Alto or Redwood City, CA, the range is $200,600 to $275,800.
  • Salary is determined by location, skills, experience, and education. Details will be provided during the hiring process.
