Patent Agent – Software & Electronics

A leading intellectual property law firm is seeking a full-time, USPTO-registered Patent Agent . This role focuses on preparing and prosecuting software-related patent applications for clients ranging from innovative start-ups to large global enterprises.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of patent prosecution experience and a strong interest in portfolio development and client counseling. A background in computer-related fields and experience with cutting-edge software technologies is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications in the software and electronics space.
  • Collaborate with inventors, in-house counsel, and firm attorneys to develop strategic claim approaches.
  • Provide insights on portfolio development and conduct client counseling on patent matters.
  • Manage deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy in written work.

Qualifications

  • USPTO Registration Number required.
  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics , or related technical discipline.
  • Prefer background or patent prosecution experience in technologies such as:
  • Cloud computing
  • Security and encryption
  • Artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Bioinformatics
  • Mobile applications
  • Databases and networking
  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
