The Mission of SFDPH is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans through divisions like the San Francisco Health Network, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services, and Administration. The San Francisco Health Network includes Zuckerberg SF General Hospital, Laguna Honda Hospital, and over 15 primary care centers. The Population Health Division provides core services like health protection, promotion, disease prevention, and disaster response. Behavioral Health Services offers mental health and substance use treatments.
Duties Include
- Serve as an experienced specialist or consultant in the specialty program, including developing and implementing policies, reviewing medical records, and quality assurance activities.
- Evaluate and treat patients as a Senior Family Physician, Internist, or Medical Subspecialist; serve as a consultant on complex cases.
- Perform and supervise surgical procedures as a Senior Surgical Specialist or Subspecialist.
- Examine, diagnose, and treat pediatric patients; collaborate on complex pediatric cases.
- Manage women's health issues, including pregnancy and gynecologic complaints, and consult with obstetricians/gynecologists.
Additional duties may include:
- Providing clinical oversight within the Disease Prevention and Control Branch, including managing communicable diseases.
- Performing medicolegal autopsies and consulting in forensic pathology.
- Conducting occupational health assessments and developing prevention strategies.
- Evaluating patients in skilled nursing settings and participating in care planning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid medical license issued by the Medical Board of California or Osteopathic Medical Board of California. Applicants from other states must obtain California licensure before appointment.
Board certification in the relevant medical specialty. Residency program completion and certification are required if enrolled in training.
Some positions may require DEA registration.
Conditions of Employment
- Must be eligible to bill Medicare, Medicaid, or other federal programs.
- Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Complete credentialing requirements prior to employment.
