Job Description
AXIS is seeking an E&S Property Claims Associate to join our North America Claims team to support the expansion of AXIS presence in the E&S Property market in North America. As a direct report to the Team Leader of North America Property Claims, the successful candidate will be responsible for the quality, accuracy, and performance of commercial property claims; works under supervision to develop skills in investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling insurance claims. This role provides hands-on experience in assessing property damage, determining liability, and ensuring fair settlements for policyholders.
This role will also be responsible for delivering the AXIS North America Claims value proposition by engaging with stakeholders, brokers, and insureds to ensure constant communication and service engagement that distinguishes AXIS claims every day.
This role will lead and develop a team of claims professionals to provide best-in-class service and are responsible for:
- Handling E&S Property Claims for a wide variety of AXIS policyholders written in various jurisdictions and reporting to the Claims Manager
- Ensuring understanding and administration of claim policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with company and policy standards
- Triaging first notification of loss, efficiently utilizing an established network of service providers
- Setting accurate claim reserves and making referrals to senior team members where necessary
- Reviewing policy wordings to validate coverage for claims and escalating issues as needed
- Preparing coverage positions for review and approval by the Claim Manager
- Working closely with Independent Adjusters, legal advisors, and brokers to maintain a premier claims service, escalating issues as appropriate
- Developing knowledge of legal frameworks and claims handling practices relevant to jurisdictions of claims
- Monitoring and investigating assigned claims and developing resolution strategies
- Maintaining satisfactory levels of productivity and claims handling cycle time
- Continuing job skill development through training
- Managing cycle time, severity, quality of claims, customer satisfaction, and professional development
- Validating indemnity and fee payments, ensuring accuracy and promptness, including monitoring claims bordereaux, ISO searches, and reporting

KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Bachelors degree or 3+ years of claims handling/underwriting experience in lieu of degree
- Claims adjuster license highly preferred
- Experience handling commercial Property claims for syndicates, insurance companies, brokers, loss adjusters, or solicitors preferred
- Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with internal and external customers
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with OneNote and other Office products including Outlook highly desired
- Ability to work effectively in hybrid and self-directed environments
