Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) , Central Texas Division is seeking a full-time/part-time BC/BE, fellowship-trained Pediatric Infectious Diseases subspecialist who enjoys clinical and teaching roles to join two full-time Board Certified Pediatric Infectious Diseases Subspecialists in the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Division of Subspecialty Pediatrics of the Department of Pediatrics. The department has an outstanding Pediatric Residency program and Fellowships in Neonatology and Pediatric Hospital Medicine. The Pediatric ID subspecialist will primarily provide direct consultation and follow-up care to patients in inpatient and outpatient settings, including outreach telemedicine clinics/consults, and teach residents, fellows, and medical students in our family-friendly Central Texas Hill Country area.
Current Pediatric ID subspecialists are involved in patient care, teaching, clinical vaccinology research, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, and administration. Candidates can choose a full/part-time clinical and teaching position or a combination, with optional part-time research at the BSWH Center for Research in Vaccines and Infections.
Position Details
- Location at the free-standing, 112-bed BSW McLane Childrens Medical Center with a 24-hour Childrens ED and trauma center, 48 private medical/surgical rooms, a 16-bed private PICU, and a 48-bed NICU, along with our Pediatric Multi-specialty Clinic in Temple, TX. The level IV NICU is approximately 5 minutes from the main campus.
- Joining a PIDs consulting service with one full-time BC Pediatric ID subspecialist serving as a clinician-teacher and antimicrobial stewardship director, and a section chief serving as CRVI director and principal investigator, with outpatient and hospital PIDs service coverage.
- Overall clinical PIDs consulting service coverage is 24/7 year-round, with up to 2.05 FTE covering inpatient floors, PICU, NICU, outpatient services, and shared PIDs task pager during weekdays and afterhours.
- Shared weekend inpatient/ED service coverage is expected at least 17-18 weekends per year.
- The role includes bedside teaching and formal/informal education of residents, fellows, medical students, pharmacists, nurses, and physician extenders, including lectures, journal clubs, rounds, and grand rounds.
- The position is employed, with clinical academic affiliation through Baylor College of Medicine - Temple Campus, and offers options for clinical research and service on departmental committees.

Qualifications:
- Doctorate Degree in Medicine
- Licensed to Practice Medicine in Texas by the Texas Medical Board
- Board certification in your specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists, where applicable
