Were seeking an experienced Toolmaker to support the full lifecycle of injection mold tooling from design and build to repair and continuous improvement. What Youll Do:

Mold Repair & Maintenance

  • Disassemble, diagnose, repair, and reassemble both hot and cold runner injection molds
  • Address routine wear, breakdowns, and performance optimizations

New Mold Builds

  • Fabricate new molds based on design specifications using both manual and CNC/EDM equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure tooling integrity and manufacturability

Support Production Processes

  • Perform hands-on finishing tasks: welding, grinding, polishing, honing
  • Assist with tool commissioning and first-article inspections

Quality & Documentation

  • Ensure ultra-precise tolerances (0.0002) using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Maintain detailed documentation on tool history, repairs, and root cause analysis
  • Recommend design enhancements and support lean/5S initiatives to boost shop efficiency

What You Bring:

Experience & Technical Skills

  • 510+ years of experience in toolmaking or mold repair (preferably plastic injection molds)
  • Proficiency in manual machining (mills, lathes, grinders) and CNC/EDM operations
  • Skilled in mold teardown, cleaning, reassembly, and welding
  • CAD/CAM experience (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam, Unigraphics) preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of mold steels, runner systems, and tolerance standards

Quality & Soft Skills

  • Advanced measurement skills using inspection tools
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Team-oriented, safety-conscious, and self-motivated

Nice to Have:

  • Journeyman Toolmaker certification or equivalent credentials
  • Experience mentoring apprentices or junior tool technicians
  • Background in lean manufacturing, 5S, or kaizen
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate forklifts or hoisting equipment
