REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION : To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular program. Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Driving, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and lifting (70 pounds occasionally).
SAFETY AND HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:
EQUIPMENT / MATERIAL HANDLING:
Must know how to properly operate school buses
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to work within various degrees of noise and temperature. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluations of Employees.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine or ten-month year. Salary is established by salary schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Class A or B License with P & S Endorsements
- District Application
- Driver's License Record Check
- Criminal Background Check
- CDL Test Results
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- SBDI - Certified Pre-Service Training Record
- Drug and Alcohol Testing
- Comprehension Test
- NM School Bus Driver Security Training
- DOT Physical Examination
- In-Service Training
- Semi-Annual School Bus Evacuations
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obeys all traffic laws.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintains discipline when students are on bus
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority
- Keeps assigned bus clean
- Keeps to assigned schedule
- Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects
- Notifies proper authorities in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
- Discharges students only at authorized stops
- Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips
- Transports only authorized students.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed by the immediate supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Driving, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and lifting (70 pounds occasionally).
SAFETY AND HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
- 8 hours per semester of state certified school bus training
EQUIPMENT / MATERIAL HANDLING:
Must know how to properly operate school buses
