Position Objective
Provides operations, technical, and training support to the Model Shop team. Develop manufacturing tooling, fixturing, and precision-machined components. Position requires advanced knowledge of solid modeling, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), current manufacturing technologies and best practices, production methods and procedures, and parametric (macro) programming of multi-axis CNC turning and machining centers. Must be able to use, read, interpret, and update blueprints, drawings, and/or CAD/SolidWorks designs to create models according to established specifications. May perform setup, repairs, and updates on shop machinery. This role is crucial for ensuring precision and efficiency in our manufacturing processes, contributing to the overall success of our production operations.

Primary Responsibilities
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Responsible for the timely, accurate and efficient programming of multi-axis CNC turning, Mill/Turn, Lathes, and Multi-axis machining centers to include HAAS VF2, and HAAS VF2-SS series 3, 4, and 5 axis.
- Must be knowledgeable of, and experienced in, the operation, upkeep, and maintenance of machine shop equipment, including (but not limited to) lathe, mill, shear, brake, band saw, grinder, and drill press.
- Expert level proficiency with MasterCam, CamWorks, Fusion 360 or other programming software is a MUST (A candidate highly skilled in the efficient use of an alternate programming software similar to MasterCam such as CamWorks, SolidCam, etc. may be considered). SolidWorks proficiency is a MUST.
- Expert level proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Expert level proficiency with Metrology (CMM, in-line gaging, surface plate, air gaging, etc.), and GD&T application.
- Develop the methods, operational sequences, equipment, layout and tooling for the precision machining of components produced from a variety of raw stock material.
- Expert level proficiency in forming, bending, and machining both metal and plastic materials.
- Ability to fabricate and assemble production tooling, fixtures, and prototype parts.
- Analyze work-holding requirements and develop component process with minimum number of setups.
- Load programs. Analyze G-code programs, adjust speeds, feeds, tooling and operating sequences as needed.
- Evaluate and prepare tooling and work-holding for efficient CNC operations.
- Develop CNC methods, process and time standards.
- Review tool drawings and assist in monitoring and controlling tool and fixture design/build.
- Troubleshoot quality problems by effectively utilizing process control and corrective actions.
- Assists in the department layout and facilities planning.
- Assists in creating cost savings and participates in continuous improvement activities.
- Assists with both short- and long-term planning activities.
- Assist in current and future capital tooling justification plans.
- Coordinate all work schedules to meet production and engineering schedules.
- Monitor all activities in the machine shop to ensure personnel operating machines are properly trained and adhering to all safety rules within the shop.
- Support training of shop machinists in support of knowledge base growth and development.
- Performs preventative maintenance to machine shop tooling and equipment in the model shop according to the preventative maintenance plan.
- Assist in the inventory, planning, and stocking of all necessary equipment and supplies required to meet production and engineering schedules with required approvals.
- Maintain shop to assure a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.

- High School diploma required.
- Associate degree preferred or equivalent technical training.
- Direct experience programming multi-axis, CNC vertical and horizontal machining and turning centers. MAZAK, Fanuc, RoboDrill, Haas experience a PLUS.
- Experience with MRP/ERP Systems.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and methodologies.
- Minimum of 510 years of verifiable experience in precision CNC machine shop environment producing precision machined components for the defense, aerospace, aircraft, medical or marine industry.
- Expert level proficiency with 3D modeling and CNC programming and set-up for Multi-axis CNCs (4, 5, 7 axis).
- Expert level knowledge of CNC operating systems (Mastercam, SolidCam).
Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized. All safety equipment must be used while operating machinery and lock out tag out procedures followed.
