Position: Local Class A Truck Driver - Flatbed Steel
Location: Toledo, OH
Company: Kim-Tam Logistics, a division of Samuel, Son & Co.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Local routes (200-300-mile radius), START TIME: AM END TIME: PM. Home daily & weekends off

What You'll Do
  • Safely deliver finished products to customers and pick up raw materials from mills
  • Secure legal and safe loads using proper flatbed securement techniques
  • Perform basic computer tasks (scanning, billing, finalizing)
  • Complete daily logs (paper or electronic) and required vehicle reports
  • Maintain vehicle condition, conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Follow DOT regulations and local traffic laws
  • Represent the company with professionalism at all customer locations
  • Occasionally pick up customer payments post-delivery
  • Other duties as assigned
What You'll Need
  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Minimum 2-3 years of commercial driving experience (48' or 53' tractor-trailer combinations)
  • At least 6 months of flatbed or Conestoga trailer experience
  • Experience hauling steel, heavy haul, or oversized freight preferred
  • Strong knowledge of load securement techniques (strapping, chaining - no tarping required with Conestoga equipment)
  • Solid understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA rules, and State DOT requirements
  • Proficient in completing electronic or paper driver logs and required reports
  • Familiar with the 60-hour/7-day rule and other Hours of Service regulations
  • Able to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate vehicle records
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English as required by DOT regulations (to understand road signs, complete required documentation, and communicate with dispatch, customers, and authorities)
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, with frequent lifting or carrying of up to 25 lbs
Compliance Requirements:
  • Possess a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets safety and insurance standards, with no disqualifying violations in the past 36 months as determined by company policy and applicable regulations.*
  • Compliance with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, including a clear record with no violations prohibiting operation of a commercial motor vehicle.**

* Disqualifying violations may include but are not limited to: driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for traffic-related offenses, and repeated moving violations that indicate a pattern of unsafe driving behavior. Each applicant's record will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility. The company reserves sole discretion in determining whether violations or driving history present a disqualifying condition.
** Compliance with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse requires a pre-employment query showing no active violations, such as positive drug or alcohol test results, refusal to test, or other unresolved violations. Applicants must consent to both pre-employment and ongoing Clearinghouse queries as required by law.
