Visit California is seeking to hire a Student Assistant to support the Visit California brand team in managing global consumer and rural marketing programs. Key responsibilities include tracking campaign performance, reviewing creative assets, preparing reports, assisting with meeting prep for Brand & Content, Rural, and Snow committees, and creating presentations for internal and external communication. The Student Assistant will also assist with data entry, partnership tracking, and general administrative tasks. Reporting to the Brand Marketing Coordinators, this role provides the opportunity to contribute to various projects within the Brand Marketing team.
Employment Duration: Six-month term, with the opportunity to extend to twelve months

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

Prerequisites
Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list.

Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.

Work Schedule
Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
Additional Work Schedule
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
Salary
$16.50 - $20.50 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key duty satisfactorily:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate professionally in a team-oriented office environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and Google Workspace.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Eagerness to learn and contribute to brand marketing efforts.
    • Education equivalent to a high school diploma; additional education or relevant certifications are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with Salesforce or other contact management systems is a plus.
  • Previous internship or experience in marketing, communications, or a related field is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support with coordination and execution of Rural Region and Partnership Meetings, ensuring effective scheduling, preparation, notetaking, and follow-up.
  • Assist with program reporting and help identify and develop new partnership opportunities.
  • Create and refine slide decks and materials for various meetings (Board, Brand & Content, Rural Region, Snow Committees, and Industry), ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
  • Oversee the collection and tracking of brand and media partnership assets.
  • Support the collection and organization of content for industry Calls for Content.
  • Manage the cataloging and tracking of branded assets for Visit California's marketing initiatives.
  • Assist in upkeep of campaign reporting materials including flowcharts, creative rotations, and campaign matrices.
  • Track and evaluate partnership inquiries, offering actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Assist in building and maintaining outreach lists for industry communications. Proofread and edit creative copy and advertorials to maintain brand integrity and consistency.
  • Assist in the creation and editing of newsroom articles, ensuring alignment with brand voice and messaging.
  • Assist in upkeep of Salesforce campaign reporting and data entry.
  • Assist in review and upkeep of brand assets on Visit California DAM.
  • 75% Assisting brand marketing team with Visit California global program of work.
  • 25% Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
