08/18/2025 A Custodian position (Monday-Friday) is anticipated in the Nazareth Area School District, with a split initial assignment at Shafer Elementary School (2:00 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.) and Maintenance Building (8:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.). Both internal and external candidates should access the Frontline portal and follow the directions posted to submit their interest in the position. All candidates approved as a substitute for the district must submit a resume in order to be considered for this position. Any candidate not in the Frontline system will need to submit the following forms if awarded the position: Act 34 (PA Criminal History) and Act 151 (PA Child Abuse History) clearances, FBI criminal background check, and Act 82 form. Additional paperwork will be required prior to/upon hire, including but not limited to PA School Health Record with TB test, Act 168 for current and previous employers and I-9 form with appropriate work authorization documents and updated clearances current within one year.
Custodians report directly to the Director/Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations and/or his/her designee. They shall perform duties necessary to the care, protection and preservation of the buildings and grounds in his, or her, charge. The health, safety, and welfare of the occupants are entrusted to his, or her, care; therefore, high standards in regard to cleanliness, sanitation, orderliness and safety must be maintained.

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Two years of related trades experience. High School diploma, or GED.
- A basic knowledge of the principles of heating, ventilation, sanitation, and maintenance of the school plant.
- Thorough knowledge, understanding, and use of custodial procedures, equipment and cleaning materials.
- Physical and emotional stamina sufficient to work effectively as a member of a crew performing custodian work requiring team efforts.
- Sufficient language, reading, math, reasoning/judgment, and personal skills to perform basic tasks without close supervision.
- Maturity and ability to deal harmoniously and effectively with other custodians, school staff, parents, and students.
