Burns & McDonnell . Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Freight Rail Engineering Project Manager to join our Transportation Practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent client interaction skills and be capable of managing and leading planning and design teams for engineering projects locally and nationally. This role involves managing all aspects of railroad/transit engineering projects, including business development, scope and fee development, staffing, project oversight, quality, and financial performance. A key focus will be leading rail industrial development projects to successful completion. Responsibilities

Adhere to safety programs, promote safety & health of team members and subcontractors. Work with multidisciplinary teams on design, analysis, and construction of rail projects. Provide leadership in safety, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, environmental compliance, project controls, and community relations. Develop and maintain client relationships, and handle proposals and project-related communications. Lead risk reviews, and coordinate with legal and regulatory agencies. Manage client development, contracts, project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and critical objectives. Organize and communicate project personnel needs. Mentor less experienced staff and promote the latest rail engineering technologies. Lead project planning, budgeting, and risk analysis. Communicate project status, risks, schedule, and costs to stakeholders. Manage downstream contract administration including RFIs, submittals, changes, and claims. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. At least 7 years of related experience (15 preferred), including 5+ years in rail engineering or architectural projects. PE license strongly preferred. Experience with rail industrial development design-build projects preferred. Strong communication, leadership, and client management skills. Knowledge of rail engineering standards and software such as MicroStation, OpenRail, Geopak, Inroads. Compensation

$100,000 - $280,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, including base salary and potential bonuses. Benefits

Location: Chicago, IL Full-time, with 25% travel expected.
