A well-established, mid-sized manufacturer with a dynamic and collaborative environment is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join its Supply Chain team. This role is instrumental in driving purchasing operations for both direct and indirect materials, supporting engineering change processes, supplier management, and strategic sourcing initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute purchasing transactions including preparing and submitting purchase orders in line with company protocols.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of materials by managing supplier performance, maintaining relationships, and expediting orders as needed.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives including RFQs, supplier evaluations, cost negotiations, and implementation of savings strategies.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and item master data within ERP systems; support cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) by updating records, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring a seamless transition of component changes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on product and process development teams to align purchasing strategies with business objectives.
  • Identify and resolve potential supply chain disruptions to minimize operational impacts.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing and manufacturing planning experience, preferably in a $50M+ production environment.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in lean manufacturing practices and familiarity with systems like JIT and pull strategies.
  • Proficient in MRP/ERP systems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
