Industrial Automation Technician

Personal Notes: 90 day Contract-to-Hire

Schedule: 7am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday

The biggest issue we have had is less about skills and more about general attitude and willingness to do the hands-on work. We don’t want someone who thinks they can delegate the work to others. This job is very hands on – you have to be able to identify issues and resolve them yourself.

Please note that a PLC assessment will be administered during the interview process. This evaluation is conducted in a secure environment to ensure the integrity of the results.

  • Develop user-friendly operator interface configurations for enhanced usability.
  • Wire electrical control panels and machinery in compliance with industry standards.
  • Create and update electrical schematics and supporting documentation for system enhancements.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures in manufacturing systems.
  • Execute complex industrial electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Calibrate and maintain various control system components including PLCs, transducers, motor starters, relays, I/O modules, sensors, etc.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on conveyor systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems and their control components.
  • Lead major rebuilds and equipment upgrade projects, identifying areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on industrial automation experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expert-level electrical troubleshooting skills (up to 480VAC).
  • At least 3 years of experience in PLC programming and system-level debugging.

  • Strong ability to read and produce electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and process control documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) and UL508A compliance standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Skilled in using power tools and shop equipment; able to obtain forklift certification.
