PCB/Mechanical CAD Designer

We’re looking for a skilled PCB/Mechanical CAD Designer to join our Engineering Design team. This is a hands-on design role for someone who thrives on turning complex engineering requirements into manufacturable, reliable, and precise solutions for our high-performance optical test equipment. You’ll work closely with electrical, mechanical, and optical engineers to design, update, and release the mechanical parts and printed circuit boards that power our products.


What You’ll Do

  • Create, update, and maintain mechanical CAD models, assemblies, and drawings in compliance with industry standards and internal release processes
  • Develop PCB layouts from provided schematics, optimizing for performance, manufacturability, and cost
  • Release complete documentation packages (drawings, schematics, bills of materials, CAD files) for manufacturing and procurement
  • Collaborate daily with cross-discipline engineering teams to ensure design accuracy and configuration control
  • Maintain and improve existing designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability
  • Write and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to update designs and bills of materials
  • Ensure compliance with Photon Kinetics quality procedures and work instructions

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with mechanical CAD and PCB design tools
  • Experience with mechanical CAD software (Creo preferred) and PCB design software (Altium preferred)
  • Ability to interpret and work from electrical schematics for PCB layout/design
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for machined parts, sheet metal, and PCBs
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Strong cross-disciplinary technical skills and design judgment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for complex, engineering-driven manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with optical, electronic, and precision mechanical systems
  • Experience with ISO-certified quality systems
