Care Team Job Description
Milner & Orr Funeral Homes and Cremation Services is entering its 6th generation of ownership serving the families of Paducah, KY and the surrounding communities. Milner & Orr owns and operates seven funeral homes and one cemetery with an adjoining care center/crematory. We are dedicated to the growth, development and professionalism of our staff. Job Requirements
- Have an existing funeral director and/or embalmers license or be willing to attain license through state apprenticeship
- Be an eager and willing team player
- Self-motivated with good work ethic
- Be able to effectively communicate with fellow staff and community we serve
- Demonstrate an excellent attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Funeral Service Software, etc.)
- Excel in a fast paced work environment
- Afternoon, weekend and holiday hours are part of the normal schedule
- Education requirement- minimum of High School diploma
- Physically capable of lifting heavy loads (removals).
Care Center Responsibilities
· Performs all embalming activities of the deceased correctly and respectfully
- Cares for deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks which include: verifying identification and embalming; performing restorations; completing removals and transfers; dressing, styling hair and or applying cosmetics, and; any other preparation required for human remains
- Adheres to all applicable professional, municipal, state/provincial and federal licensing authority regulations
- Ensures hazardous materials and spills are handled in accordance with the Material Data Safety Sheets
- Assists with chemical and supply inventory
- Receives caskets and other funeral home supplies
Crematory Responsibilities
- Must have or be able to obtain Crematory Operator Certification
- Perform daily scheduling and activities for the crematory
- Operate and maintain on-site crematory
- Coordinate and transfer of decedent and cremated remains to and from chapels and crematory
- Maintain required records and documents with a high degree of attention to detail
- Perform routine maintenance and care of crematory related equipment
- Maintain inventory of crematory supplies
- Ensure the physical crematory area, facility, garage, and preparation room are clean of debris and maintained in a neat, orderly manner
- Wear and always use the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the performance of the job duties that require such equipment
- Comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Milner & Orr Policies and Procedures
