Project Manager – PMO Practice Lead
Location: Auburn Hills, MI (Local candidates only – On-site availability required for mission critical needs)
Duration: 1 Year+
Pay Rate: $50/hour
Work Schedule: Hybrid (On-site as needed)
Overview:
We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in PMO operations to support the growth and maturity of the PMO function. This role is ideal for someone who has been hands-on in establishing or maturing a PMO , developing project governance frameworks, and delivering large-scale IT projects in a higher education or enterprise IT setting. The ideal candidate will be local to the Auburn Hills area and able to be on-site when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and improve business processes through detailed needs analyses.
- Partner with business users and IT stakeholders to gather system requirements.
- Develop and implement project plans including documentation, training, testing, and rollout.
- Track project deliverables, maintain timeframes, and report progress.
- Manage project resources including internal staff and external vendors.
- Coordinate implementation across cross-functional teams.
- Use project management tools (MS Project) to monitor project status and performance.
- Conduct risk analyses and implement contingency strategies.
- Manage post-implementation enhancements and support.
- Lead stakeholder and project team meetings.
- Provide system compatibility assessments for hardware/software updates.
- Collaborate with developers and users on solution development and testing.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience building or expanding PMO practices .
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Office 365 (Power Automate, SharePoint Designer).
- Experience with ERP, CRM, portals, and enterprise applications—Ellucian Colleague highly preferred.
- Familiarity with development tools such as Colleague Studio, Visual Studio, SQL Server, SSRS, and Informer.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to build consensus and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working in diverse and multicultural environments preferred.
