What we are looking for
The Project Engineer works between the design, construction materials, integrated services and field teams and is responsible for assisting the project team with planning, management, and administration of the project(s) to which they are assigned. They are expected to be self-starters and proactive, productive team members providing various support functions for the various Project Managers and Leadership within the company.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- New Project Start-up - Create and distribute new project documents internally. Utilize company software and assist Project Manager (PM) in preparing subcontract attachments.
- Owner Contracts/Subcontracts - Have working knowledge of contracts with Owners/Subcontractors (i.e. understand scope of work, terms, etc.). Assist PM in contract setup, preparation of subcontract inclusions/exclusions and follow up on outstanding subcontracts.
- Scheduling - Assist Superintendent/PM in preparing and updating the master rolling schedules. Ensure subcontractors labor and materials are ready and on schedule. Working knowledge of construction logistics and construction sequencing.
- Document Control - Update record drawings electronically. Distribute drawing update/changes, reviewed submittals, RFI responses and any pertinent project information to all affected parties. Prepare and distribute documents for weekly owner and subcontractor coordination meetings. Anticipate and record official notices; temporary occupancy, substantial completion, notice of completion, etc.
- Submittals and Procurement - Prepare submittal register at project start-up. Identify and prepare procurement log for all long lead items. Work with the PM and Superintendent to add long lead items to project schedule to properly track. Review subcontractor/vendor submittals. Compile, log and track all project submittals. Schedule and expedite material, equipment purchases, and deliveries as needed. Assist with procurement of permits and deferred approvals as needed.
- Requests for Information - Review, submit and maintain log for all request for information. Be solution oriented.
- Safety - Participate and assist project team in setup and implementation of MarketOne Builders’ safety program. Perform weekly jobsite safety walks.
- Cost Control/Estimating - Review project document updates, RFI responses and submittal comments and identify to PM any potential cost or schedule impacts. Assist PM in obtaining subcontractor quotes, providing quantity take-offs and cost estimating of any changes to the project documents. Assist PM with entering and processing of potential change order and internal change orders into Prolog. Assist PM with writing and issuing subcontractor change orders. Update PCO’s logs for owner meetings. Assist in preparing owner billings; review subcontractor payment applications, MarketOne Builders costs, procuring MarketOne Builders releases and compiling documents in accordance with the owner requirements. Assist in preparing monthly cost reports (PPR’s).
- Closeouts - Compile closeout logs. Generate, maintain, track, schedule and complete all project punchlist items in a timely manner. Complete electronic closeout package and transmit to Owner.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience as a commercial construction project engineer a plus, preferably within MarketOne’s core markets.
- Excellent listening skills and have strong communication skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Must have the ability to be self-motivated and effectively interact with team members internally and externally.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite as well as basic computer skills. Experience with Project Management software (CMIC) and Scheduling software (Microsoft Project) a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar.
- A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude.
The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $95,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
