Product & Lifestyle Photographer

Chemical Guys, Torrance

Save Job

At Chemical Guys, we don’t just sell car care products—we build a visual world that sparks obsession, drives engagement, and tells stories that shine. We’re looking for a Product & Lifestyle Photographer who’s equal parts meticulous and imaginative—someone who can capture a bottle like it’s a Bentley and stage a foam cannon shot like it belongs on a billboard.

This role is hands-on. You’ll shoot everything from clean, eCommerce-ready assets to high-energy lifestyle imagery that lives on packaging, digital ads, Amazon, and everywhere in between. While most work is done on-site at our Torrance HQ, occasional local travel (5–10%) may be required to nearby stores, car washes, or rented locations (like an AirBnB/Peerspace) for on-location lifestyle shoots. The role may also include occasional evening and weekend shoots (5%) based on campaign or production schedules.

You’ll report directly to the Manager of Digital Content Production and collaborate closely with our in-house creative team to deliver compelling visuals across multiple platforms.

How to Apply:

Please submit your resume along with a link to your portfolio (no PDFs, please). We’re looking for range—especially product-on-white shots, styled flat-lays, and lifestyle photography featuring talent or real-world setups. Note: Applications without portfolios will not be considered. Attention to detail—like reading this entire brief—is a must for this role.

What You’ll Do:

  • Photograph and edit high-quality product images for eCommerce, Amazon, retail packaging, web, and print.
  • Stage and capture lifestyle photography that tells a compelling before-and-after story with our car care products.
  • Shoot new products using a seamless backdrop studio setup with strobe lights.
  • Own the entire photo process—from lighting and setup to post-production and server uploads.
  • Participate in occasional local travel to shoot at car washes, retail partners, or on-location sets (approx. 5–10%).
  • Support occasional evening or weekend shoots as needed (approx. 5%).
  • Handle retouching, background cleanup, color correction, resizing, and formatting based on platform-specific guidelines.
  • Style products, set up scenes, direct talent, and create mockups or composites when needed.
  • Maintain and organize studio gear, keeping equipment clean, calibrated, and shoot-ready.
  • Maintain our photography library: archive, name, and label assets with consistent, searchable file structures.
  • Audit existing product pages and update imagery as needed to meet evolving brand standards.
  • Stay current with image spec changes across retailers and marketplaces, adjusting deliverables accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, videographers, marketers, and editors to support multi-channel campaigns.

What You Bring:

  • A strong portfolio showcasing both product and lifestyle photography (eCommerce, packaging, Amazon, etc.).
  • 2–3 years of studio experience photographing consumer goods or CPG products with strobe lighting.
  • 1–2 years of lifestyle photography experience—ideally using natural light and directing live talent.
  • Advanced knowledge of DSLR/mirrorless camera systems, studio strobes, light modifiers, and tethered workflows.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom—you work fast and with precision.
  • Familiarity with AI-enhanced tools like Adobe Firefly, Generative Fill, and other content-aware workflows.
  • Experience shooting for major eCommerce platforms: Amazon, Walmart, Target, and direct-to-consumer sites.
  • Ability to independently style, light, and shoot product photography while also thriving in collaborative settings.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods—studio work is active.
  • Strong organizational habits—your files, equipment, and workspace are always dialed in.
  • Valid driver's license and access to personal transportation for local travel days.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience using 3D software like Blender to generate product mockups from existing models.
  • Familiarity with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems—experience with Bynder is a plus.
  • Experience using project management tools like Asana to manage shoot timelines and deliverables.
  • A working knowledge of motion capture, short-form video, or stop motion techniques.
  • A genuine passion for car culture, detailing, or automotive visuals—enthusiasm goes a long way here.
