Job Title: Release Train Engineer / Sr. Scrum Master

Type: 6 Month Contract / Hybrid

Location: Charlotte, NC (Mooresville)

Comp: $50-$60/hr


Release Train Engineer

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) manages and optimizes the flow of value through Agile Release Trains (ARTs). This role leads multiple ARTs or large product verticals, removes impediments, manages risk, ensures value delivery, and drives continuous improvement at the program level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor Release Train Engineers and Scrum Masters.
  • Oversee two or more complex product verticals with interdependencies.
  • Coordinate feature planning, communication, and delivery across teams and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate major releases and ongoing delivery of value across multiple teams or ARTs.
  • Use agile metrics and ceremonies to identify improvement opportunities and maximize performance.
  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters on Agile practices and mindsets.
  • Manage changes to quarterly plans, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Facilitate communication, remove barriers, and track features from development to delivery.
  • Collaborate with the PMO, product management, and other stakeholders to ensure execution excellence.
  • Create improvement roadmaps by analyzing past performance and optimizing processes.
  • Manage ART budgets and facilitate periodic syncs across trains.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 7+ years as an RTE, Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agile Project/Program Manager.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Scaled Agile certification (e.g., SAFe RTE, Agile Practitioner).
  • Experience using and interpreting agile metrics.

  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize, assign work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of agile-at-scale methodologies, patterns, and metrics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
