Senior Estimator
Location: Fond du Lac, WI (On-site)
Position Summary:
A well-established commercial construction firm is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead and manage comprehensive estimating activities across diverse construction projects nationwide. This individual will play a key role in coordinating preconstruction efforts—from initial planning through project execution—by working closely with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and present detailed scope and cost estimates for construction projects.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs for labor, materials, and equipment from project plans and specifications.
- Manage and maintain estimating templates, procedures, and presentation formats.
- Oversee the Invitation to Bid process and maintain up-to-date subcontractor and supplier databases.
- Analyze bid proposals, drawings, and specifications to define the full scope of work.
- Collaborate with architects, owners, project managers, and trade partners to ensure alignment and clarity in estimates.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids, material pricing, and ensure competitive and accurate cost projections.
- Engage in value engineering and constructability reviews during pre-award stages.
- Coordinate with project teams to account for equipment, logistics, and job site conditions in the estimate.
- Support the setup of project budgets and schedules.
- Track and reconcile estimates throughout project progression.
- Provide support with project management duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent technical training and experience.
- 8–10 years of experience in conceptual and design-build estimating.
- Proficient in construction estimating software and systems.
- Advanced Excel skills (including formulas and custom spreadsheet creation).
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and cost principles.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading; working knowledge of BIM is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to create structured and professional estimate presentations.
