Full-Time (EEG/EMG) Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilledEEG/EMG Technician to perform bothelectroencephalogram (EEG) andelectromyography (EMG) procedures under the supervision of a neurologist or physiatrist. This hybrid role offers a dynamic work environment across outpatient clinics, hospital settings, and remote platforms. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, technically skilled, and committed to delivering high-quality neurodiagnostic care in alignment withAANEM andACNS standards.
Key Responsibilities:
EEG Duties:
- Prepare patients and equipment for EEG testing
- Apply electrodes using the International 10–20 system
- Monitor EEG recordings and annotate clinical events in real time
- Support long-term monitoring (LTM), ambulatory EEGs, and video EEGs as needed
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure
EMG/NCS Duties:
- Set up and calibrate EMG and nerve conduction study (NCS) equipment
- Assist physicians with EMG/NCS procedures including electrode placement and patient preparation
- Document waveforms, latency, and amplitude readings accurately
- Maintain and sterilize EMG equipment and supplies
General Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and records
- Educate patients about procedures and respond to inquiries
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Participate in ongoing education and skills development
- Provide support for other neurodiagnostic modalities as needed
Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program or equivalent
Certifications:
- Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) preferred or eligibility required
- CNCT or R.NCS.T. certification preferred for EMG/NCS
- BLS/CPR certification required
Experience:
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in EEG and/or EMG strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of neurophysiology and electrophysiologic testing
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and technical competency
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations
Work Schedule:
- Hybrid role: Mix of in-clinic, hospital-based, and remote documentation/review work
- May include on-call shifts, evenings, or weekends based on departmental needs
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for electrode application and equipment handling
- Able to lift and move equipment up to 25 lbs
