The Financial Advisor combines interpersonal skills with all the resources Southern Bank and Ameriprise to help community clients realize their financial goals. Financial Advisors are provided training to help them build their business, including attracting and servicing relationships with their clients and prospects. They are responsible for assessing clients' circumstances and objectives, providing individualized, highly strategic investment consulting, and offering a full range of wealth management services including mutual funds, stocks, bonds, managed accounts, ETFs, REITs, annuities, insurance, and estate planning.

Essential Functions and Performance Areas

  • Develop and cultivate a client base via prospecting and servicing clients.
  • Analyze investment opportunities and client needs, recommending appropriate strategies.
  • Build client relationships through financial planning and wealth management strategies.
  • Market and present investment solutions and wealth management services.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations/seminars for business development and education.
  • Create sales and marketing strategies for the Financial Advisors business.
  • Provide branch training to bank personnel on referring appropriate customers.
  • Collaborate with key bank personnel on investment program development and integration.
  • Attend training and continuing education sessions to stay current on products, solutions, and policies.
  • Comply with all industry rules and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sales-oriented with the ability to understand customer goals and recommend solutions.
  • Assertive, competitive, self-starter, goal-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in securities sales.
  • NASD Series 6 or 7, 63, 65/66, and life and health insurance licenses.
  • Three to five years of experience, with past investment and insurance sales experience.
