Job Description

Continuing Education:

  1. Initial and ongoing training by a Controller
  2. Advanced Excel courses
  3. Scheduling and Earned Value Management
  4. CPA and/or CFCM certification

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Interact regularly with customers or their representatives. Manage finances, accounting, and contract compliance for multiple large, multi-year projects and programs. Responsibilities include:
  2. Produce and coordinate monthly billing, ensuring compliance with invoicing terms. Assist in resolving billing issues to ensure timely payments. Post invoices in customer and company systems.
  3. Book month-end financial adjustments and assist in creating business unit reports. Collaborate with Project Leadership to ensure desired financial results. Present financial outcomes in Monthly Operational Reviews.
  4. Work with Project Leaders to ensure correct cost allocation. Review cost ledgers regularly and enter adjustments as needed.
  5. Assist in cost, pricing, and proposal reviews to verify accuracy and compliance with standards.
  6. Meet monthly with Project Leaders to validate project cost estimates and provide training on cost forecasting, manpower, cash flow, and change management.
  7. Provide quarterly revenue and profit projections, reviewing with senior management.
  8. Support Project Leaders in preparing and presenting Monthly Key Project Reviews and Gate Checks.
  9. Prepare data for monthly reports and participate in contract status meetings.
  10. Monitor contract compliance and reporting requirements.


Experience:

  • 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to detail, strong organization, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to apply accounting principles to solve problems.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field, with 2-4 years of experience.

Desired Qualities:
  • Self-motivated, capable of managing multiple deadlines and projects.
  • Independent worker who is eager to learn and advance within the company.

Location/Travel:
  • Based at HQ in Tysons, VA
  • Occasional travel to project sites as needed.

Abilities:
  • Prolonged screen time and sitting.
  • Manual dexterity for keyboard use.
  • Effective listening, speaking, reading, and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to apply rules to solve specific problems and understand others' speech.
