Job Title: Financial Advisor - Sugar Land Branch
Position: Exempt / Full Time
Role:
Houston Federal Credit Union with LPL Financial partners are offering a complete menu of financial services to credit union clients. The Investment Program supports the local community working closely with members to assess their financial goals, risk tolerance and investment objectives and recommends appropriate investment strategies and products. Monitors market trends and economic conditions to make informed investment decisions and adjust investment portfolios as necessary.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- The ability to service an existing book of business upon hire.
- The ability to build a strong client base with the credit union's exceptional referral system and develop customized investment plans for each member based on their individual needs.
- Ability to provide service to branch territories with significant deposit base, which includes current members who need an advisor to support their financial goals.
- Ability to utilize opportunities to find new clients via the credit union's member base by educating members on investment products and services available to them.
- Ability to create client solutions without proprietary products, monitor investment portfolios to ensure they align with members' objectives and adjust as necessary and maintain accurate records of member interactions and investment transactions.
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, are necessary to provide exceptional service to all members/clients and promote the investment program to internal partners and external network.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to members' investments or insurance products.
- Maintain licenses and knowledge to ensure a sound investment or insurance plan is developed for members.
- Responsible for monitoring and adjusting members' investment portfolios to ensure they align their goals and risk tolerance. Performance will be evaluated by how well the investment portfolios perform relative to market benchmarks.
- Responsible for ensuring that all investment recommendations and transactions comply with applicable laws and regulations. Performance will be evaluated by compliance with regulations and adherence to the credit union's policies and procedures.
- The financial advisor will work closely with other credit union departments, such as lending and accounting, to provide comprehensive financial planning experience for members. Performance evaluation will be based on the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and contribute to the success of the team.
Experience:
- Two to three years of sales experience in the financial services industry, preferably in a bank or credit union.
- Undergraduate Degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
- Role requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
- Active Series 7, 63/65 (or 66) licenses along with Life, Accident & Health licenses, a clear Uniform Application for Securities Industry Registration or Transfer and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations are required.
