Job Summary
The Claims Adjuster Trainee will successfully complete training related to licensing, policy, systems, process, and customer service. This role will begin with lower complexity claims and progress as skills develop as well as assist policyholders throughout the claims lifecycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Verifies facts of loss and pertinent information to analyze and confirm coverage.
  • Establishes case reserves as soon as practical, monitor and adjust accordingly.
  • Submits timely reserve and payment approval requests as appropriate.
  • Explains and appropriately respond to insureds, public adjusters, attorneys, and contractors during telephone contacts.
  • Contacts the appropriate parties to obtain any needed information, provide timely investigation status updates, explain settlements and/or ultimate claim disposition.
  • Timely login to the phone system and be available for calls.
  • Submits required letters and communications to management for approval.
  • Applies negotiation skills to effectuate direct resolution of disputed claims.
  • Identifies and refers claims with subrogation potential to the subrogation department.
  • Identifies and refers cases with potential NICB fraud indicators.
  • Virtually investigates and resolve claims, as appropriate, with the use of video technology.
  • Complies with best practices and all statutory requirements.
  • Available to work outside normal business hours for catastrophic events as it pertains to the business.

Qualifications (Education/Experience)
  • Must hold a valid Florida 620 All Lines Adjuster license or obtain within 14 Calendar days from start of employment.
  • High School graduate, college degree or related business experience preferred.
  • 0-3 years of Florida property claims handling experience.
  • Automation proficiency preferred; Microsoft Office, Claims Management System
Skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and adapt to frequent priority changes.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize workload, and coordinate multiple tasks and projects.
  • Possess strong customer service skills and can address customer escalations.
  • Microsoft Office skills (including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
