Job Summary:
The Volunteer and Program Coordinator, floater will oversee all volunteer coordination and volunteer training activities at Chrysalis' Downtown & Santa Monica offices. Duties include onboarding, training, and coordinating all downtown volunteers and providing backup support in the case of volunteer absences. The Volunteer & Program Coordinator will provide direct services to Chrysalis clients, helping them build resumes, cover letters, and interview skills, and will teach Chrysalis' job readiness classes and submit online job applications as needed. The Volunteer & Program Coordinator will also lead special projects, meetings, and corporate partnerships. Some coverage support at other Chrysalis offices on as needed basis. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Volunteer Recruitment, Coordination, Training, and Engagement
  • Maintain close communication with all Downtown, Santa Monica volunteers and provide direct support on a daily basis, including addressing day-to-day emails, inquiries, and needs.
  • Occasionally travel to other sites as need for coverage support, Orange County and San Fernando Valley Chrysalis sites.
  • Assess program needs, screen, onboard and train new student/Intern volunteers regularly, and manage existing volunteers.
  • Support and/or carry out volunteer appreciation and engagement activities, including recognizing volunteer milestones and helping to plan/execute regular volunteer engagement events.
  • Evaluate student/intern volunteer performance on an ongoing basis, giving direct feedback, and following up with additional training as needed.
  • Work closely with Client Services team, attending weekly staff meetings and maintaining active communication about volunteers and client training activities.
  • Handle cross-functional communication and support across all Chrysalis sites, and support staff, clients, and volunteers.
  • Take on special projects to help the Volunteer & Program team create and implement new processes and streamline program operations.
  • Oversee established student and internship partnerships with colleges and universities throughout Los Angeles.
Direct Client Service Delivery
  • Provide one-on-one resume preparation, practice interview services, and helping clients apply to jobs online, as well as facilitate job readiness classes as needed.
  • Collaborate in the design and development of materials for Chrysalis' training programs, with an eye toward making ongoing improvements.
  • Support client and community events, including recruiting and supporting volunteers and various day-of activities.
Customer Service and Administration
  • Coordinate volunteer & Chrysalis staff/intern schedules to ensure full coverage of one-on-one and job readiness classes.
  • Monitor and replenish supplies for all volunteer-related client services.
  • Ensure the tracking of volunteer activities are up-to-date and complete in Salesforce and Humanitru.
  • Work closely with Downtown and Santa Monica Volunteer & Program Coordinators to maintain active communication about volunteers and client training activities.
  • Oversight and management of in-kind donations and resource rooms for the site.
  • Other duties as assigned.
General Duties

  • Provide support for special events, volunteer engagement activities, and day of service events, working collaboratively across teams, and with external stakeholders.
Job Skills & Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills required
  • Highly motivated by Chrysalis' mission and desire to improve social and economic fabric of our community.
  • Teaching/facilitation/training experience highly desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and intercultural skills.
  • Microsoft Word, typing and internet research proficiency required.
  • Excel and PowerPoint proficiency desired.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Prior experience achieving success working under limited supervision.
  • Comfortable speaking to crowds and communicating with a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation travel to meetings and provide coverage support at other Chrysalis offices
