This position is located Heart Hospital Plano, Texas.
Financial Analyst II serves as the key financial resource. Provides financial analysis required to support the goals and objectives of Baylor Scott and White (BSWH).
Essential Functions Of The Role

  • Provides financial analysis support to administrators, department directors, and others as directed or required, to assist in the efficient and cost-effective operation of BSWH.
  • Prepares the operating and capital budget(s) for assigned areas.
  • Prepares the 5-year financial operating forecast to include statistics, payer mix, payments capital, etc.
  • Prepares analysis and presents and defends findings, for any potential capital acquisitions, projects, new services, etc.
  • Provides ongoing budget vs. actual revenue and expense variance analysis through review of both standard reports and reports which have been developed specifically for the entity.
  • Prepares verbal or written results of analysis of department operating efficiencies and presents/discusses them with management and others as required.
  • Develops and produces Management Reports as required/requested.
  • Prepares operating pro-formas for proposed new services/projects/capital as required. Understands financial operations and work with all levels of assigned areas, finance, clinical management/personnel to ensure the accuracy of the analysis.
  • Provides financial analysis and recommendations for lease vs. buy decision relating to new equipment.
  • Serves as liaison between the assigned area and Decision Support Services and other finance areas of BSWH.
  • Maintains professional growth through participation in educational programs and professional organizations and activities to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Conducts finance training for BSWH personnel as directed.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
  • Analytical Expertise: Ability to perform complex financial analyses, interpret large datasets, and translate findings into actionable insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI, and enterprise financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Axiom, EPIC).
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment with competing priorities and deadlines. Adjusts quickly to shifting needs and communicates changes effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicates financial informationboth written and verbalto clinical and administrative leaders who may not have a financial background. Able to tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Business Acumen: Understands the operational and financial dynamics of a healthcare environment, including payor mix, reimbursement models, and cost structure.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Builds strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including clinical leaders, finance departments, and operational staff. Viewed as a trusted financial partner.
  • Initiative & Ownership: Demonstrates self-direction and accountability by proactively identifying issues, recommending solutions, and following through on implementation with minimal supervision.
  • Professionalism & Continuous Learning: Maintains a high level of integrity and professionalism while pursuing continuous development to stay current with healthcare finance trends and tools.
  • Customer Focus: Delivers financial insights and reporting that empower leaders to make informed decisions, always keeping the broader organizational goals and patient care impact in mind.
