Job Title: Endoscopy Technician I

Description:
The Endoscopy Technician I has either no experience in endoscopy or is a novice in the endoscopy setting.
The technician assists nurses and physicians in providing care for the endoscopy patient.
They must complete competencies for all basic GI procedures and scope reprocessing.
The technician also supports the area with duties that include preparation of the procedure room and sterile field to ensure a safe patient care environment.
This involves gathering all required instruments and supplies and serving as an endoscopy procedure assistant.
The job includes transportation of patients and equipment, stocking and maintaining supplies, care and maintenance of endoscopes and their accessories.
They contribute to the daily functions of the unit and have a strong sense of infection control in the GI setting.
Proficiency in all general endoscope procedures, equipment, and supplies is required, including cleaning endoscopes and accessories.
The technician fulfills all essential functions of the GI Lab Technician and functions in all areas of the endoscopy lab.
Preparing for scheduled, emergent, urgent, and add-on endoscopic procedures is an essential duty.
They ensure necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are ready and set up for use.
The technician has the skill to expedite and organize preparation for unexpected events.
They give direction and support to less experienced team members.
This role requires independent functioning within scope and anticipation of the needs of physicians and nursing staff during procedures.
The technician must be proficient in operating all equipment in GI and providing technical assistance during procedures by troubleshooting equipment as needed.
Emergency call after normal operating hours and weekend rotation may be required.
In-depth knowledge of infection control principles and standards is necessary.
The technician takes a proactive role in quality improvement monitoring and plans.
Demonstrating effective and professional communication skills is essential.
The technician works collaboratively as part of a team.
Assistance with the planning of daily assignments and distribution of work to promote department efficiency is required.
The technician assists in the trial and evaluation of new equipment and supplies.
Functions in a manner aligned with quality care goals, patient satisfaction, professional standards, and safety.
Maintaining confidentiality is crucial.
The technician supports evidence-based practice and ethical accountability.
Current BLS certification must be maintained.
