We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources team. The Benefits Specialist will report to the Director of Human Resources and oversee and manage the company's employee benefits programs, compliance initiatives, and related HR operations. This role is responsible for administering and enhancing a comprehensive benefits strategy, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including equal opportunity employment, unemployment, FMLA, and other applicable employment laws.

Education: Associate degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
Experience: 3 to 5 years of HR and benefits experience
Skills/Abilities
- HR and benefits experience is required; experience with self-insured plans preferred.
- Familiarity with benefits administration systems, HRIS systems, and payroll systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service via verbal and written communications.
- Customer service acumen and ability to deal with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Detailed oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to embrace and personify the mission of Health Partners of Western Ohio.
- Administers employee benefit programs including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, and supplemental life and disability insurance plans.
- Directs and plans the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, life insurance, health saving accounts, retirement plans, etc.).
- Coordinates daily benefits processing. Process enrollments, COBRA, terminations, 403(b) changes, changes in beneficiaries, disability, accident, and death claims.
- Designs and distributes materials for benefits orientation, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions.
- Facilitates accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers for the organization's 403(b) plan.
- Completes records, reporting, and other documentation required by Federal and State regulations and policies.
- Serves as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
- Maintains compliance with Federal and State regulations concerning employment (unemployment, FMLA, equal opportunity employer, sexual harassment, and confidentiality).
- Ensures the organization's plans are compliant with the applicable provisions of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in benefits administration.
- Assists with annual salary research/comparisons for all HPWO positions.
- Respect and maintain employee confidentiality.
- Attends and participates in department and job specific meetings.
- Performs other related duties in the Human Resources Department as assigned.
Work is primarily sedentary, demanding sitting, walking, lifting, and bending. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination commonly associated with duties in an office setting will be performed repetitively. This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking. The ability to distinguish letters and symbols and utilize telephones, computer terminals, fax machines, and copiers is required. The work environment characteristics described here represent those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
