Under the general direction of a surgical nurse, performs fairly complex surgical technician duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. This position provides surgical technician support to several specialty surgical areas within UC San Diego Health. Responsibilities include verifying specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons regarding equipment, liaising with supply companies and vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing continuing education in-service to staff.
Openings
These two openings are for Day (one opening) and Evening (one opening) shifts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or specialized training.
- BART or BLS certification at the time of hire, with a commitment to obtain BART within six months.
- At least one year of Surgical Technician experience.
- Knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for surgical patients.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various procedures.
- Essential skills and abilities for successful performance in this role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Two years of Surgical Technician experience, preferably in an operating room with complex surgical cases.
- Endovascular experience is highly desirable.

- Ability to work various hours and locations based on operational needs.
- Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $76,191 - $94,712 (prorated if the appointment is less than full-time)
Hourly Range: $36.49 - $45.36
Salary factors include experience, skills, knowledge, education, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. The referenced pay scale is the budgeted range expected to be paid, which may vary based on internal equity, budget, and bargaining agreements.
