Summary
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager and Controller, Accountant II performs general accounting duties in accordance with prescribed procedures and accounting principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and reviews and verifies balance sheet, profit and loss statement, zero price inventory reports, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
- Prepares, verifies, and controls the entering of journal entries to the general ledger.
- Assists the Controller with tasks associated with the general ledger, such as entering monthly journal entries, executing monthly closing entries, and completing month-end general ledger processes.
- Makes cash collection calls/emails with the assistance of other departments.
- Application of customer cash receipts and scanning checks for deposit.
- Assists in developing accounting and internal controls. Monitors accounts and balances to provide internal controls of the accounting system.
- Performs monthly closing of unbilled revenue, adjustment to closed orders, billing summary, and overall analysis.
- Enters and maintains customer taxation status.
- Creates and maintains new customer accounts.
- Establishes and manages customer credit holds and credit limits.
- Manages EPX credit card processing and disputes.
- Reconciles month-end expense reports and deferred revenue accounts.
- Assists with the completion of customer forms.
- Reviews accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills, and Experience
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in an accounting role.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products; excellent Excel skills.
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
- Strong data entry skills.
- Extremely organized with strong multi-tasking and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
Preferred:
- ERP experience (Epicor Prophet 21).
